Eye tumour in a goldfish
A smaller mass in the cornea had been removed 6 months earlier and confirmed as a spindle cell tumour. Due to the extent of regrowth, the whole eye was removed and allowed to heal naturally. Over the next six months, remodelling of the facial bones converted the deep socket into a shallow depression. There were no obvious problems due to the operation and the fish coped well with only one eye over the next two years.
A large pigmented tumour had developed on the surface of the left eye over several months
The large tumour was localised entirely on the globe and was pulling the eye out of the socket
Reshaping of the facial bones of the left side was evident on an X-ray taken 4 months following surgery
